Ms. Felicia Mychele Brunson decided early in her life to become the change she wanted to see in her community and the world. Hailing from “The Mecca of Broward County” Carver Ranches, Ms. Brunson began constructing change in her community right after graduating from college. She became involved with the Homeowners Association, where she later served as Vice President.  Eventually, she was instrumental in the move to incorporate Carver Ranches and the surrounding unincorporated communities into Broward County’s 31st city.

Ms. Brunson made history in March 2005 by becoming one of the inaugural City Commissioners for the newly formed “City of West Park”. She currently serves as Vice Mayor of West Park, where she remains the youngest member of the entire Commission. A progressive voice for youth and senior citizens, she believes in and takes action for quality education, access to social services and affordable healthcare. As Founder and President of the non-profit organization, Visions of Images, Inc., she desires to bridge the intergenerational gap between youth and senior citizens.

The consummate community servant, Vice Mayor Brunson currently holds membership with Leadership Florida, Broward Community and Family Health Center Board (Vice Chair), Founder of One Community One Cause Walk for Cures event where she raised funds for seven different charities, Boys and Girls Club of Carver Ranches Board, Women Elected to Municipal Government President and Women of Tomorrow Mentor. She also provides a well-balanced summer female youth development program for girls aged 12-18.

Vice Mayor Brunson has received multiple awards, including the NAACP’s 2004 Eula G. Johnson Community Servant Award; Women Elected to Municipal Government Empowering Women Award; American Business Women Association’s Government Official of the Year; 2011 South Florida Freedom Sister Award; 2012 League of Women Voters Young Elected Official to Watch; and 2013 Broward Black Elected Official Community Service Honoree.

A graduate of Florida State University, Vice Mayor Brunson received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications with specialization in Journalism from Florida A and M University.  She holds a Master of Science degree in English Education and an Educational Specialist degree in Administration and Management of Educational Programs from Nova Southeastern University.
