2013 Discover Orange Bowl: Noles vs Northern Illinois Huskies

Wonderful environment and beautiful day in South Florida preceding the game; great job by the South Florida Chapter of FSUBAA hosting the pre-game tailgate. This was followed by an outstanding team effort from the Seminoles versus the Cinderella Huskies of Northern Illinois, who’s slippers didn’t fit after 8:30pm. Congratulations to the outstanding seniors for this team, and a few juniors who will take their talents to the professional level next season. Dominant performances all around was highlighted by the exceptional game of senior running back Lonnie Pryor (game MVP) with 134 yards on only 5 carries (including two TD runs), game management by senior quarterback EJ Manual, and suffocating defense led by senior linebacker Vince Williams and junior Christian Jones. 2013 has certainly started great.

2012 ACC Championship Game – Noles vs Georgia Tech Yellowjackets

Great time for Nole Nation in Charlotte. For the first time since 2005, we’re in a BCS bowl game. This was due to the results of the 2012 ACC Championship Game with the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets. Offense and defense were almost flawless in the first half for a 21-3 lead behind the running of Devonta Freeman and James Wilder Jr. And, the passing game was exemplary with EJ Manual spreading the ball to our slew of playmakers. The defense was suffocating behind the play of young, up and coming stars Mario Edwards Jr., Ronald Darby and Karlos Williams stepping in for injured starters. THEN, came the 2nd half; suffice to say, despite bending, the defense was the star of the game, effectively stifling the Rambling Wreck’s option attack. Williams continued and completed his stellar play with a game-ending interception to seal the 21-15 victory.

Absolutely beautiful Fall day for friends, fun, and football in Tallahassee as the greatest rivalry in college football was renewed. Alas, the outcome for Seminoles was not what we wanted, but there is next year; and if not, the year after that. Day started at President Eric and Molly Barron’s pre-game reception; then, the FSUBAA/UF-ABA tailgate in collaboration with Alum Jovany Felix behind Tully Gym was a hit. The Game was next, and a great crowd with a host of former gridiron legends in attendance viewed a defensive first half battle evolve into offensive fireworks in the second half. Final score: UF 37 – FSU 26. On to the ACC Championship for our Noles; then, hopefully to the Orange Bowl (back in the BCS).

Reunion 2012 – Sunday Unity March to Integration Statue

Young Alumni Movement program at the Integration Statue in collaboration with the Black Student Union and Black Alumni Association. Special appearances by the living members of the Statue, Ms. Doby Flowers and Mr. Fred Flowers, who provided remarks to the audience. March was from the Alumni Center down the sidewalk parallel to Tennessee Street, down Woodward Avenue, across Tennessee Street. Great feeling.

Reunion 2012 – Sunday Inspirational Awards Brunch

The Grand Ballroom of the FSU Alumni Center was the perfect venue for the finale of FSUBAA Reunion 2012. Brunch cuisine was provided by Andrew’s. The award presentations were: Scholarships – Ms. Samara Hicks, Ms. Jada Jones, and Ms. Delese White; Outstanding Student: Mr. Carl Sharpe (also 2012 Homecoming Chief); Outstanding Faculty: Dr. Maxine Motgomery. The Young Alumni Movement provided the winning video presentation for their 2012 scholarship recipient Ms. Ireti Ojomo. The food was blessed by 2011 Scholarship Recipient Mr. Joshua Berrian, and Greetings from the President’s Office were provided by Dr. Tom Jennings, VP University Advancement. The food provided sustinence for the brief, chilly walk, with FSU Police escort, to the Integration Statue.
